Dr. Shyamal Chowdhury

Professor of Economics, Sydney University, Australia

ECONS provided outstanding data collection services to several projects where I was involved as a co-PI. The two most important things that I found important in their service provision are their high integrity in data collection, and their utmost cooperation in the entire process starting from signing of the contract to the post-delivery inquiry. I, as an example, went back to them asking about a particular observation collected years ago, and they were happy to go back and find it out. While these are often expected from a firm working in the research domain, based on my experience with firms in Bangladesh and several developing countries, these qualities are not often found elsewhere. Importantly, for me and my co-authors, ECONS conducted several large-scale lab-in-the field experiments involving children and less educated adults. Such experiments include elicitation of time, risk, and social preferences, that are often difficult to conduct. This is perhaps a unique skill that ECONS has invested on and acquired.
