Reducing Human Trafficking Vulnerabilities Caused by Climate Change - Induced Migration in Bangladesh

Project description:
UPENN and Winrock International intend to conduct qualitative exploratory study in 11 districts where Winrock will implement a larger program to tackle climate change vulnerabilities and human trafficking. The purpose of this qualitative data collection is to understand the climate change vulnerabilities, coping strategies and resilience capacity, and the risk of human trafficking in these  districts which ultimately feed into designing the baseline survey and fine tuning interventions. Qualitative data will also be used to design vignettes for conducting lab-in-the field experiments during the baseline and follow-up surveys. ECONS, therefore, understand that the qualitative data collection will help:
1)    Find out commonalities and variations in vulnerabilities to climate change and coping mechanisms that can be addressed through a bundle of services, and
2)    Find out risk taking behavior and associated coping choices through vignettes to help design interventions that can minimize risky behavior such as illegal migration.
